The hospitality industry has always bounced back from the brink of every crisis.
While 2020 was an extremely difficult year for the hospitality industry in general, the onset of 2021 brings with it new hope. Yes, the new year holds new challenges that need to be confronted but I am optimistic that the inherent spirit of hospitality will prevail.
As an industry, the hospitality industry is extremely resilient and has always bounced back from the brink of every crisis. That gives us hope for the future and I am confident that, no matter what the odds are, the industry is all set to bounce back sooner than later. Among others, the fact that people are already stepping out and travelling again is a most positive sign as hotels and restaurants open their doors to welcome guests back.
While there is great focus on safety and hygiene today it is important not to forget the human element. It is, after all, the people behind those masks and their indomitable spirit that give the hospitality industry its biggest strength.
Having said I would also like to pause and reflect on the year that was and express my utmost gratitude to those in the food, travel and hospitality industry who went above and beyond their call of duty during the pandemic to serve the both frontline workers and the needy.
Moving forward, it gives me great pleasure to see the launch of Hospitality Horizon, an exciting new magazine for the food, travel hospitality industry that you are now holding in your hands. More so I was present to unveil the cover of the magazine along with the captains of the hospitality industry including Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China) at Marriott International, Neeraj Govil, Area VP, South Asia, Marriott International, Puneet Chhatwal, MD & CEO, Indian Hotels Company Ltd, Rajiv Kaul, advisor, The Leela Palaces, Hotels & Resorts, Satyen Jain, CEO, The Pride Group of Hotels, Dilip Puri, Founder, Indian School of Hospitality, Mandeep Singh Lamba, MRICS, President (South Asia) HVS Anarock, Sartaj Singh, President, Hospitality, Embassy Group, Fredrik Blomqvist, GM of Four Seasons Hotel Bengaluru and Padma Shri awardee Sanjeev Kapoor.
