“Another thing that I wanted to get just
right was the uniform and I was willing to
take my time on it because we did not just
want to get any uniform,” Fredrik continues.
“It had to be something that was not just
comfortable but also bespoke. In the end, we
settled for a unique design especially crafted
by the designer duo Shantanu & Nikhil, who
are known for their ability to meld subtle
Indian suggestions in a contemporary style.”
Fredrik also took his time with the naming
of the restaurants. “What we named the
outlet was important because that is
something we would have to live with,” he
says. “Hence, we took all the time and
weighed the pros and cons of each of the
suggested names. Take CUR8, the all-day
dining, for example,” he adds. “We listed out
some 100-odd names. Then we started the
process by eliminating the typical boring
names and focused our collective energies on
coming up with something unique that had a
local touch but, at the same time, reflected
what we were all about. Finally, we came up
with CUR8 by marrying the word curate, as
we were offering a curated dining experience,
with the number 8 derived from our address
i.e. Number 8, Bellary Road.”
THE ROAD MAP
With such attention to detail, it was hardly
surprising that Four Seasons Hotel Bengaluru
not only opened to an overwhelming response
but quickly went on to establish itself as one
of the finest luxury hotels in India. The fact
that it harmoniously blended the Four
Seasons ethos with the best of Indian culture
and traditions struck instant chord.
