If there’s one synergy that has boomed in the hospitality sector post-Covid times, it’s the coming together of health and travel. Vacations are no longer just about enjoying a scenic backdrop, but are now being created with anti-burnout itineraries from cooking and cycling trails to sun-kissed yoga, holistic food menus, sleep-inspired tourism and spa sessions.
In fact, to keep up with the demand, most resorts are making spas the primary focus, designing specially-designed treatments to help people rejuvenate and heal. Adding key thrusts are luxury spas that offer multi-dimensional wellness-themed programmes to heal, de-stress, pamper and set the tone for a rejuvenated return to daily life.
Talking about the growing slant towards wellness, Vinitaa Rawat, founder of Amazing Vacations, says: “In the past few months, we have seen a rise in the trend of wanting to make oneself a priority. Mental and physical health is so very important now and switch off and clean up, is the mantra for many (especially for those in their mid-30s and 40s) before they burn out.”
She’s been talking to folks on curated wellness holidays and adds, “Retreats and resorts are offering everything from Ayurveda to Tibetan healing, Watsu therapies and holistic healing, combined with doctors that guide folks towards a better lifestyle. Visiting the spa at a retreat or resort play a significant role here, both mentally and physically. They provide a calming environment to de-stress and promote relaxation and various treatments on offer can actually target areas specifically that need more healing.”
